I am thankful.

I’m thankful for my friends,  the confidants, the ones I just know I could be related to, the ones who make me laugh, and the ones who show me grace when I fall short.

I’m thankful for my children, my healthy, funny, spirited children who bring me new challenges and joys every day.

I’m thankful for my parents, who took parenting seriously, taught me to look on the bright side, look people in the eyes, and also offered me lots of grace (with a side serving of discipline).

I’m thankful for my husband, one of the least selfish, most centered people I know.

Really thankful.

And you?

Helping Kids Keep Track of Shoes

Shoes should not be a problem at our house.
I’m the only girl here, which means our equation is:
# of shoes mom owns = # of shoes all 4 boys own + a few more if we’re counting flip flops
I mean flip flops don’t really count, do they?
Nonetheless, we have shoe issues.  If you want to know how we solved it, you’ll have to pop on over to Midwest Parents.  See you there!

Posting has been a little light, I know…

Without offering excuses, but to give you a peek into the (positive) mayhem that is my life, here are a few of the reasons you haven’t seen a ton of depth here recently:

* lots of people in & out of my house: new furnace, counters, carpet, appliances, bathroom tile, paint, blah, blah, blah.  It is unbelievably time consuming to pull your house from the late ’90’s into today!

* a break in the water main.  Good timing.

* fast and furious editing on a book proposal.  I LOVE it, but it doesn’t leave a lot of leisure time on the table.

* a blog re-work is in the works, which means I’ve spent a lot of time on this blog lately, you just can’t see it yet.  Maybe by the end of the year?

* iPhoto trouble.  It’s very hard for me to admit this, even to myself, but I accidentally deleted all 13,000+ photos I had on iPhoto.  They were all cataloged by child, place, date.  It was beautiful.  Since that day I’ve had a difficult time taking photos and haven’t loaded a single one on to iPhoto.  Blogging isn’t nearly as fun without the photos.  I’m just sick about it.  And, yes, I’ve already been to the Apple store for help.  I think they wanted to roll their eyes, but they just kindly told me I was out of luck.  Stupid.

* 3 boys in 3 schools and difficulty saying ‘no’ to volunteering in any of them.

* coaching a boys basketball team which, again, I LOVE, but any leisure time left after the book proposal editing is pretty much eaten up by planning plays, practices, and game rotations.

* friends.  Of all of the things I’ll jettison to clear my schedule, friends aren’t one of them.

But you’re my friends, too–more depth here soon, I promise!
