So Far From Want

Who can resist the stuffing and the bird, piled high on the plate, with too many sides to count?  The whipped cream, the pie–can I have cherry and apple?–with a little ala mode for good measure?

In an article he wrote way back in 2007, Mitch Albom quoted Edward Winslow, who described the joy of the first Thanksgiving, in part, by explaining that they were “so far from want.”

So far from want.

Isn’t that us?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.  I hope your plates, and your hearts, are full and very far from want.

When I logged on today, I noticed that my last post was my 500th.  Crazy!

If you’ve been here awhile, you know that I was a hesitant entrant to the world of blogging, that I began blogging with a friend, and that I love to write about kids and media, kids & reading, parenting, and life.  Mostly, though, I love the connections blogging creates, and knowing that I can connect with incredible women–thinkers, writers, mothers–even if they don’t live around the corner.  What a gift that is!

How about you?  What is it that keeps you blogging?  Or reading?  Comment away!
